Objective: learn how to remain positive after a stressful situation
Anticipatory set:
We all know that no one likes to feel stressed out or sad. These are negative feelings. Today we are going to learn a few tricks that will help us stay on the positive side.
Procedures:
Use the Trackstar activity in order to present information about positive emotions and things that can be done to change negative emotions into positive emotions.
Initial instruction:
Using the Smart board and the projector the teacher will open the Trackstar activity. The information about positive and negative emotions will be reviewed briefly.
The teacher will explain that every time we find ourselves in a difficult situation we should think of something nice. These are called positive emotions.
Guided practice:
The teacher will read chapter 7 of the Trackstar (managing your feelings). The teacher will explain that in order to feel better people think about things they like to do or places they like to be. The teacher will also explain that there are different other methods of making yourself feel good such as talking about your problem with your friend, write a journal, draw, listen to music, etc.

Independent practice:
The students will choose 3 methods of emotions management and write their own examples of things they would like to do.
UDL multiple means of expression: lower functioning students will be able to use pictures in order to make choices of preferred activities.
Evaluation: The students will be given 3 choices of 3 different stressful situations. They will have to choose the appropriate available method to relax or to remain positive.
Performance Evaluation:
The student’s choices will have to express appropriateness of the situation (available resources) 2 out of 3 given opportunities.
